The following guidelines have been developed to provide your pet a safe and healthy environment in which to stay while you're away and to address questions frequently asked regarding boarding at THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF KEARNEY.
- Veterinary confirmation of vaccination must be provided. All pets must have a current 1 year or 3 year Rabies vaccination. DHPP vaccination for dogs and FVRCP vaccination for cats must be current in respect to the recommended practices of this clinic. Bordetella, (Kennel Cough), vaccination is required yearly for dogs. It is preferable that vaccinations be given at least 2 weeks prior to boarding. However, pets not current within these guidelines will need any necessary vaccinations administered upon arrival. Fees for these vaccinations are in addition to those charged for daily board.
- FLEAS, TICKS and INTERNAL PARASITES (worms): Any pet found to be affected with these parasites will be appropriately treated to prevent exposure of other pets in our kennel. Fees for treatment of parasites are in addition to those charged for daily board.
- Your pet's personal items such as bedding and food and water bowls may not be appropriate for kennel boarding. Bedding can transmit fleas, are easily soiled and personal items are easily misplaced. Food and water bowls are provided and adequate bedding is provided as needed. We ask that personal belongings accompanying your pet be limited to a chew toy or bone.
- All dogs are leash walked twice daily outside the confines of the clinic building unless the owner requests otherwise or the pet is deemed a significant escape risk. It is the owner's responsibility to inform clinic personnel if their pet has not been leash trained or should be considered an escape risk.
- Additional fees are charged for administering medications to pets while boarding. Medications must be presented in the original dispensing container with a veterinarian's prescription label properly identifying the pet, medication and directions for use. Our ability to honor requests to administer non-prescription medications not prescribed by a licensed veterinarian will be assessed on an individual basis. THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF KEARNEY and its doctors are not responsible for the results of medications prescribed by other veterinarians. Pet owners are responsible for informing the receptionist of their pet's medication needs and to inquire about treatment fees when making boarding reservations.
- Your pet will be fed SCIENCE DIET foods while boarding. If your pet requires a special diet please bring an appropriate amount with written feeding instructions.
- An Emergency Contact Number must be provided where the owner, or other person authorized by the owner to make decisions on the owner's behalf, can be reached.
- Emergency or Urgent Care. THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF KEARNEY and its employees will do everything within its means to prevent illness or injury to any pet being boarded. However, should a pet become ill or injured while being kenneled at The Animal Clinic of Kearney, essential non-elective veterinary care will be provided to stabilize and provide necessary treatment. The owner or authorized agent will be contacted as soon as possible. Veterinary services will only be provided when necessary for immediate medical concerns. The owner shall assume responsibility for fees associated with veterinary services provided for their pet while boarding at this facility. Fees for any veterinary services provided are in addition to daily boarding fees.
- Payment in full for all charges on account is required when your pet is picked up. Fees for boarding are charged on a daily basis. Charges for additional services provided while boarding are the responsibility of the owner. Advance or partial payment may be requested for pets staying for extended periods or when additional services are requested.
- Pets may be admitted and picked up only during regular office hours. Owners are asked to call if unable to drop off or pick their pet up on the day originally scheduled.
- THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF KEARNEY reserves the right to decline boarding any pet that has a contagious disease, is a danger to the well-being of other pets occupying the kennel, is ill or arrives in a debilitated state. Boarding may also be denied to any pet that poses a threat to clinic personnel, has difficulty dealing with the confines of the kennel, refuses to eat or has historically experienced any other persistent problem that threatened its general welfare in a kennel setting.
Thank you for choosing THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF KEARNEY to care for your pet while you're away. Every attempt will be made to make your pet's stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Please contact our office at 816-628-4035 if you have any questions.
