Wayne R. Morris,
DVM
I am the owner of The Animal Clinic of Kearney and staff veterinarian. I grew up in Kearney and am a 1980 graduate of the University Of Missouri College Of Agriculture where I received a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture. In 1983 I graduated from the University Of Missouri College Of Veterinary Medicine as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I served as an associate veterinarian for practices in both Colorado and Oklahoma prior to moving back to Kearney and opening The Animal Clinic of Kearney in 1988. I enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine but have interests in surgery and special diagnostic procedures. My professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.
I am married and have two sons. My wife, Cheryl, also works at the clinic and manages the office. My oldest son, Nathan, is a student at MIZZOU and my youngest son, Brett, attends Kearney High School. We have a Golden Retriever, “Jenny” and two cats, “Dot” and “Truman”. In my free time I keep busy with family activities and enjoy just about anything that involves being outdoors. I am a self-proclaimed "Do-It-Yourselfer" and enjoy the challenge of a home project. I enjoy cycling and spend many hours on the county roads and trails around our home. I am a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kearney and have served on various committees. My most satisfying contribution has been as a member of the building committee that facilitated the relocation of the church to its present facility. I have supported and coached youth sports and am a past member and parade chairman of the Jesse James Festival held here each September. |

Cheryl - Office
Manager/Receptionist
I have been a part of The Animal Clinic of Kearney since Dr. Morris first opened in 1988. It was exciting to celebrate 20 years and to have the Clinic AAHA Accredited. My duties are many as I manage the business office and front desk. I love greeting our clients as they arrive at the clinic and visiting with them in person or on the phone. I enjoy working with our clinic staff and take pride that we all have the common goal of providing the best veterinary care possible for each pet. I have enjoyed watching the practice grow from a small office space to the modern facility we moved into in 1996 to accommodate our customer’s needs and changing technology.
My husband (Dr. Morris) and I reside just outside Kearney with our two sons, Nathan and Brett. Nathan, our oldest, is at MU working toward a degree in advertising and a degree in marketing. He loves the busy college life. Brett is a sophomore at Kearney HS. He runs cross country and track, is on Student Council and plays in the Drum Line. He also enjoys playing percussion with the Praise Band at Church.
I stay active in my Church and teach Sunday School. I also participate in various school and community activities including Relay for Life. At home I enjoy caring for “Jenny” our Golden Retriever, and our two cats “Dot” and “Truman”. I enjoy cooking, volunteer work, walking and supporting my family with all their activities.

Amanda - Receptionist
Every morning you will find me at the Front Desk answering phones and checking in patients for the day. I enjoy meeting all of the pets and their owners. I love knowing I am a part of keeping them healthy and happy. I take pride in being a part of such a hard working and friendly team dedicated to animal health and welfare. Since starting at The Animal Clinic of Kearney in July of 2007, I have learned a lot about preventative healthcare for pets. I have even learned to provide preventative oral care for my own cats.
I have lived in the Kearney community since 1993. I was born in Omaha, NE. I have also lived in Lenexa, KS and Aurora, CO. My fiancé, Kevin, and my daughter, Shandra share our home with 2 cats “Salem” and “Squiggy”. |

Lloyd - Veterinary
Assistant/Kennel Manager
I am a native of Connecticut, where I grew up working in my parents' breeding and boarding kennel. As a teenager, I handled dogs for my parents in the show ring. We also had cats and horses. Following high school, I was an aviation electrician in the US Navy for eight years. I then continued my career as an aviation technician in Massachusetts, where I met my wife Diane. Seven years later we relocated to Kearney with our three children, Robin, C.J., and Vanessa.
Since we relocated due to Diane's work, I became a stay-at-home dad to care for our children. In 1998 when all our children had started school I began working part-time at The Animal Clinic of Kearney caring for the boarding kennel and performing general maintenance. I now work full-time continuing to manage the kennel and maintenance needs and also work as a veterinary assistant.
Outside work you can find me smoking meats, participating in an occasional BBQ competition or enjoying a ride on my motorcycle. Other members of my family include an English Springer Spaniel, "Annie", and two cats, "Tipper" and "Tuffy".

Jessica - Veterinary Technician
I have been a staff member at The Animal Clinic of Kearney since August 2004. I am a 2009 graduate of Maple Woods Community College with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology and anticipate being fully licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician later this year. I enjoy my job because I love working with pets and because of the people that I work with. I have had the opportunity to help educate clients and provide the best health care for their pet whether it is a new puppy/kitten or a senior pet. At home, Eric and I have 3 dogs: "Legs", "Peanut", and "Brownie the Bird Dog". When not working, Eric and I enjoy riding our horses, "Bubbie" and “Sissy” on trail rides. As time allows I help organize and enjoy competing with the Excelsior Springs Archers archery club.

Melynda - Professional
Groomer
I've been grooming at The Animal Clinic of Kearney since 1999. I started grooming in 1996 and am a third generation groomer. I take great pride in my work. I enjoy the challenge of meeting each client's expectations. From sanitary trims to full grooms, each individual gets my full attention to detail. I was trained by my mother who has been grooming for 30 years. My love for animals and grooming started when I was four years old. I started brushing and putting bows in my dog's hair just like mom.
My immediate family includes my husband, Wendell, and our four children, David, Adriana, Wyatt and Meranda. We live on a farm where we raise livestock and have six of the best-groomed dogs around and 2 fat cats. When not at work, I enjoy working with our own animals or you may find me on-line collecting antique composition dolls.
