Wayne R. Morris, DVM

Dr. Morris and JennyI am the owner of The Animal Clinic of Kearney and staff veterinarian. I grew up in Kearney and a 1980 graduate of the University Of Missouri College Of Agriculture where I received a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture. In 1983 I graduated from the University Of Missouri College Of Veterinary Medicine as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I served as an associate veterinarian for practices in both Colorado and Oklahoma prior to moving back to Kearney and opening The Animal Clinic of Kearney in 1988. I enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine but have interests in surgery and special diagnostic procedures. My professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.

I am married and have two sons. My wife, Cheryl, also works at the clinic and manages the office. My sons, Nathan and Brett attend Kearney schools and are involved in many activities both in and out of school. Our pets consist of two cats and two dogs. In my free time I keep busy with family activities and enjoy just about anything that involves being outdoors. I am a self-proclaimed "Do-It-Yourselfer" and enjoy the challenge of a home project. Outside work I am involved in both church and community activities. I am a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kearney and have served on various committees. My most satisfying contribution has been as a member of the building committee that facilitated the relocation of the church to its present facility. I have supported and coached youth sports and in the past have served as parade chairman for the Jesse James Festival held here each September.

Cheryl - Office Manager/Receptionist

CherylI have been a part of The Animal Clinic of Kearney since Dr. Morris first opened in 1988. My duties are many as I manage the business office and front desk. I love greeting our clients as they arrive at the clinic and visiting with them in person or on the phone. I enjoy working with our clinic staff and take pride that we all have the common goal of providing the best veterinary care possible for each pet. I have enjoyed watching the practice grow from a small office space to the modern facility we moved into in 1996 to accommodate our customer's needs and changing technology.

My husband, (Dr. Morris), and I reside just outside Kearney with our two sons, Nathan and Brett. I am active in my church and teach Sunday school. I also participate in various school and community activities including Relay for Life. At home I enjoy caring for "Jenny", our Golden Retriever, and our two cats, "Dot" and "Truman". I enjoy cooking, volunteer work, walking and supporting my family with all their activities.

Amanda - Receptionist

AmandaI began as a receptionist at The Animal Clinic of Kearney in July 2007. I enjoy meeting all of the pets and their owners and love knowing that I am a part of keeping them happy and healthy. I take pride in being a part of such a hard working and friendly team dedicated to animal health and welfare. I have lived in Kearney or the surrounding area since 1993. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and I have also lived in Lenexa, Kansas, and Aurora, Colorado. I have a fiance, Kevin, a daughter, Shandra, and 2 cats, "Salem" and "Squiggy". I look forward to meeting everyone and their pets!

Lloyd - Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Manager

Lloyd and TipperI am a native of Connecticut, where I grew up working in my parents' breeding and boarding kennel. As a teenager, I handled dogs for my parents in the show ring. We also had cats and horses. Following high school I was an aviation electrician in the US Navy for eight years. I then continued my career as an aviation technician in Massachusetts, where I met my wife Diane. Seven years later we relocated to Kearney with our three children, Robin, C.J., and Vanessa.

Since we relocated due to Diane's work, I became a stay-at-home dad to care for our children. In 1998 when all our children had started school I began working part-time at The Animal Clinic of Kearney caring for the boarding kennel and performing general maintenance. I now work full-time continuing to manage the kennel and maintenance needs and also work as a veterinary assistant.

Outside work you can find me smoking meats and participating in an occasional BBQ competition. Other members of my family include two English Springer Spaniels, "Barney" and "Annie", and two cats "Tipper" and "Tuffy".

Jessica - Student Assistant

Jess and TeekoI have been a student assistant at The Animal Clinic since August 2004. I am currently pursuing my Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology at Maple Woods Community College and plan to graduate in May 2009. I enjoy my job because I love working with pets and because of the people that I work with. Eric and I have 4 dogs: "Legs", "Sassy", "Peanut", and "Brownie the Bird Dog". When not working, I enjoy riding my Paint Horse, "Bubbie".

Krista - Veterinary Assistant

Krista RHi. I'm Krista. I have been working at The Animal Clinic of Kearney since October 2007. I have been a resident of Kearney my entire life. I enjoy being around animals and enjoy assisting with your pets. At home I share a room with my cat Charlie. In addition to working here I also teach Sports Acrobats.

Melynda - Professional Groomer

Melynda and AquaI've been grooming at The Animal Clinic of Kearney since 1999. I started grooming in 1996 and am a third generation groomer. I take great pride in my work. I enjoy the challenge of meeting each client's expectations. From sanitary trims to full grooms, each individual gets my full attention to detail. I was trained by my mother who has been grooming for 30 years. My love for animals and grooming started when I was four years old. I started brushing and putting bows in my dog's hair just like mom.

My immediate family includes my husband, Wendell, and our three children, David, Adriana and Wyatt. We live on a farm where we raise livestock and have four of the best-groomed dogs around. We have one indoor cat, "Aqua", that requires very little grooming. "Aqua" is a hairless Sphynx! When not at work, I enjoy working with our own animals or you may find me on-line collecting antique composition dolls.

Kate - Kennel Attendant

Kate and KaseyI was born and raised in Kearney, Missouri. I have been working at the Animal Clinic of Kearney since January 2008. I hope to attend a university after graduation from high school, although I have not decided what I want to study. I have two dogs, Kasey and Sparkey and a hamster Fathead. I am a goal keeper for my soccer team for which I play year round. I enjoy working at The Animal Clinic of Kearney because I learn something new every day. I love animals and I love the people I work with.
